Common Infected guide

PostCommon Infected guide by kLoWn

I have watched people deal with common infected poorly leading to a waste of health and slowing down the team. And its one of the easiest things to deal with.

Not so common infected:- Riot gear, mud men, clowns should all be taken out first to make things easier.

Being boomed:- Take cover next to a wall or corner. This stops all attacks from 1 side and allows you to deal with inf. Make sure your crouching so team mates can kill them easily. Never try to run out into the open when boomed unless your in control or you will get surrounded and pounded.

Alt-melee:- Contrary to popular belief spamming alt melee is a bad thing. It gets you tired, doesn't kill common inf. So really your just prolonging the pain. Alternate between shooting/melee and alt melee. i.e alt-melee once, shoot/melee once. This kills the common inf so you start to deal with the horde. Simply continuing to alt melee while rushing just means you will have more inf chasing you, and they will cathc up eventually. So deal with them! I have seen this problem with experiences and unexperienced players.

Rushing with inf on your back. 1 common inf hitting your from behind will slow you down and cost health. Turn around, melee/shoot him while running back to free yourself.

Be aware, being surrounded by horde makes u a target for spitter. So deal with the horde effectivly to lower the chances of being mauled by spitter. Do no simply alt melee all the time to escape. the inf just get up and block your way again. Alt melee and shoot/melee them. If all esle fails jump on a chair/box/table to avoid spitter dmg

Be aware of how common inf path towards you. When you become more advanced player you will notice that common inf to some degree predict where you are running too, how close they are too you. When they get near you they stop for a fraction of a second then melee you. If you time it right you can strafe close to inf, which makes them stop and gives you space to shoot them. There are videos showing that if you strafe correctly in a horde you can concentrate them all into a line to kill them easily. i.e when chasing a target you can make them all become one group. Is pointless on a scale like that but being aware of it helps you clear a room better.

So please deal with he common inf better. So much health is lost to random hits! Alt-melee is bad on its own!

PostRe: Common Infected guide by kLoWn

Common inf dmg is still a problem for a lot of people. In fact the difference between the two teams in the last l4d2 game was simply the amount of common inf dmg happening. Its really important to turn around and deal with common inf hitting you rather then trying to run on and help someone while getting hit.

Ok so next pet pieve of mine. If some of the other survivors are downed by whatever it is critically impotant to stay near the downed person. Because if you get pounced or smoked they can help you. Also if a hunter is chasing you, you can cleverly use the downed person to trap the hunter. Just make sure the downed person is in-between you and the hunter and youve made it 10x harder for him to pounce you. Also tanks.... if your friends are down run around them so that they can help you if you get attacked. they can also protect you from hunters and shoot the tank.

Same trick for booming. Ok so when a boom goes of and covers your 3 survivor mates what do you think happens next. Well if the inf are good they will attack the green non-boomed guys. So knowing this you can use the purple boomed people as shields. Simply sit in the middle of the boomed people. If a hunter/smoker/jockey comes for you he will probably be bashed to death by the blinded boomed people. If you get attacked they cannot do much dmg as they cant get past the bashing boomed people. If a hunter is coming at you he will hit a purple person before you. then you can simply shoot him and the group has taken minimal dmg. Also when your in the middle of the boomed people you can help them fight of the common inf so they dont get too dmg. You can also warn them about spitters etc.

This is why its important when a big boom of 3+ people happens is to all move to the same location and have the non-boomed person in the middle. Without a well placed charger you will all be pretty safe. Much safer then being split with the green guy getting attacked.

Boomer counting. If you get attacked by the inf all together and manage to kill them all then you are safe for the next 16 secs. After 16 secs it takes maybe 5 secs to plan and strike as inf. So after an attack, start counting... after 16secs watch for a boomer, after 20 secs expect the next attack. This gives rise to the rush, wait for attack, rush, wait for attack kind of play. Survivors get into trouble when they cannot move on within 16secs after the last attack. So if someone goes down gets boomed and you cant get him up within 20 secs... your in trouble, as the next attack will come but only 3 of you will be standing. Then if you survive that you only have another 20 secs to get up and start moving. Thats why inf tend to scratch people your trying to get up.... so its much more effective to try get someone up.. when the inf come to scratch, deal with them and then get him up. So it all comes down to speed. if you cant keep moving you will get hit again and again, loose hp and not make it.
